Fourth of July Forecast

4th of July Forecast for DC/Southern Maryland/Northern Virginia

(Robert K. Hamilton / Baltimore Sun)

You might have noticed summer's severe thunderstorms rattling the DMV area over the past few weeks. The storms return to our area Thursday and continue on Friday, so the real question forecasters are asking is whether these storms will linger into Saturday and affect your Fourth of July celebrations? The bad new is thunderstorms are forecasted for this year's Fourth of July, however as of now these storms aren't forecasted to be severe. Around the noon hour, the chances of rain showers and thunderstorms increase and will unfortunately continue throughout the night. Cloudy skies should be expected across the DMV area throughout the entire day. The good news is temperatures during the day will be comfortable in the upper 70's and lower 80's; and in the evening temperatures remain in the mid-upper 70's. So if we do happen to get a break in the line of storms, the temperatures outside will be perfect for grilling, fireworks, and other festivities.
